Summertrain ’25 – Greyson Chance
Greyson Chance holds a special place in my heart and I’m incredibly excited to share his music on the collective today. Chance brings us a blast into the past with a rerecord of his song, Summertrain, from his debut album, Waiting Outside the Lines. Though this rerecord brings similar construction to the original track, Chance’s deeper vocals bring a whole new, more mature vibe to the song, perfectly representing the fans who had been there since the beginning.
Personally, as a fan who has been here since his original viral Paparazzi cover, I’ve been listening to this song on repeat since it dropped at midnight. I feel like my 10 year old self has been allowed to heal from whatever crazy thing that this album brought me through, and now my 25 year old self has a place to call home. He never fails to deliver extraordinary music with every single drop.
I’m so incredibly excited for Chance’s further rerecords. Waiting Outside the Lines is the next rerecorded track that he has announced, but said that more could be coming if his fans really want to see them (we do!). With these rerecords, I believe Greyson is showing us that the themes that ran our childhood are still relevant, and its important to continue to see those in a new light.
Keep an eye out for a more in depth covering of his rerecords coming soon to the blog!

City Walls – Twenty One Pilots
I’m legally only allowed to talk about Twenty One Pilots for three paragraphs because I will genuinely yap about these guys all day long. The intelligence, musicality, and passion that these men put into their music is genuinely one to be talked about for ages. This holds true with the newest drop of their album, Breach.
City Walls, the first track on the album, continues the lore that the band has built through their last 4 albums (there is heated debate on if Vessel as an album ties into the lore. I’m a Vessel truther, especially after listening to Breach). In this song, we see Clancy, the main character played by Tyler, once again fall into the cycle of Dema and the Bishops.
For those not well versed in the lore, you’ll still find relatable things about this song. The inevitable fall to mental health is a struggle that most of us find in our every day lives. The understanding that each time you struggle, you’re a little bit different, a little stronger, is a message that all of us need to hear. It’s the reminder to keep pushing through.

Playing Dead – Madilyn Mei
I have to brag on this album for a moment because WOW. This is one of the coolest structures for an album I’ve seen in a while. Madilyn Mei’s A Thousand Songs About It All Part 1 is one of my favorite releases this year. The singles At Least I’d Be a Cowboy, What’s Going on?!, and One Man Circus have been on every playlist I’ve made since their release. There’s a soft truth about Madilyn’s music, a version of self discovery that’s so unexpectedly relatable to fans.
Playing Dead is one of my favorite songs from this album. It speaks to the unexpected feeling as an adult of waking up and going through the motions every day. Whether the substances used to cope are literal, or the other dopamine hits from electronics and social media that has carved its own home in our society, most everyone will be able to relate strongly to this song. Once again, Madilyn knocks it out of the park. I can’t wait to hear the second part of this album!
