We’re back this week with a new version of the Drop, featuring the best new songs from this new music Friday!
Waiting Outside the Lines ’25 – Greyson Chance

First up on the list, we have another single by Greyson Chance. I’m really loving this week over week drop he’s been doing (and is suspected to continue throughout the month of September). This week we have another rerecord of a song from his debut album, this time, the title track.
“There’s a whole world around us, just waiting to be explored” ~ Greyson Chance, Waiting Outside the Lines ’25
In this rerecord, Greyson shakes up his interpretation of the original track, opting for a slower, more emotional take. Alongside the music video, Chance offers a reflection of the past 15 years of his time in the music industry. The video displays clips of the 13 year old child experiencing his rise to fame. From music video clips, to interviews, to behind the scenes takes, to home videos, the video instantly transports fans of the longtime artist back to their childhood bedrooms screaming the lyrics into the void, eternally pissed off at Ariana Grande for breaking his heart. (See the Unfriend You music video, incredibly good media.)
I’ve been a fan of Greyson since I was 10 and this song and music video had me on my couch sobbing. Not often enough do artists reflect on their growth, especially over as long of a career as Greyson has had. Different from other artists who have done re-recordings recently, Greyson has made it clear that these are for the fans who have been there since the beginning. Yet, even if you’re just discovering Greyson, these are for you too. Listen to the old and the new. You’ll fall in love with him just like the rest of his fans have.
Secrets – Miley Cyrus
(feat. Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood)

What do you mean we’ve gotten a Fleetwood Mac feature in the great year of 2025?
Miley’s track featuring the artists of Fleetwood Mac is a holy grail for those fans whose favorite cover was Miley’s Landslide cover in 2011. The song displays a letter to her dad, who Cyrus has been attempting to reconcile a relationship with since their public falling out years ago.
The song is so beautiful. Cyrus’ vocals are so unique and never fail to inspire the best emotional responses out of anyone who listens. I wouldn’t be surprised if this song resurges a fanbase of Miley’s that hasn’t been listening for a while. I can’t wait to see others’ responses to this song.
