Cuco stopped in Austin on his Ridin’ tour, playing to a full room of the most dedicated fans that I’ve ever seen. While playing his biggest hits, older vibes, and a surprise song section, Cuco and his fans formed an unbreakable bond that lasted well after the show ended.
Early Mornings… to the Barricade!

Camping has become much more of a common occurrence for shows, but generally you see it more with larger venues. While ACL Live is not a small room, by any means, the fans still committed to the show just as much as they would have if he were playing a stadium. Fans at the barricade had been waiting since the beginning of the day, some even lining up as early as 9:00am. Once the show started, I completely understood why.
The connection that Cuco established with his fans the moment he stepped on stage was one that I don’t see with other artists. He would make constant connection, singing with them, reaching out to touch them, and even signing things they would hand him throughout the show.
While every artist loves their fans, you can tell by the way he performs to the crowd that he forms an individual intimacy with each person who experiences his music live, just as he connects to his own songs while performing. Each person in that crowd got such a unique experience at this show, due to Cuco leaving himself fully on the stage every night.
Passion for Heritage on the Stage

This album, Ridin’, served the primary purpose of paying homage to his roots. It features influence of Chicano culture, demonstrated by car culture prominent in Southern California, his home. The album’s imagery of a low-rider does an incredible job of demonstrating the themes that he wanted to express this album, tying together the vintage feel of the album with the modern sound that Cuco brings.
In each song he performed, Cuco showed his entire heart and soul. It was apparent that the songs came from inside of him, his experiences, and his upbringing. The emotion in his face, with each movement, showed the passion that he has for the life that he created, his career, and his music.
What’s next?
