The Drop | September 26

We’re back with this week’s The Drop ™ showing you all of the best new music that released within the past 7 days!

Flip The Record – Greyson Chance

First on my radar is Greyson Chance. Greyson has been featured in my drop almost every week of September and for good reason! His newest single, Flip the Record, is one of my favorites that dropped this week. If you’ve followed Greyson for a while, you’re aware of his struggle in the industry, being dropped by management several times in his 15 year career before finally becoming an independent artist this past year.

If you haven’t followed Greyson for a while, or are just discovering him now, this song is a perfect way to jump right into his discography. In his words, “This song is about rejection, and every form of it I’ve gone through since 2010. It’s about being tossed around, beaten up, exploited, then forgotten.” This song is absolutely gorgeous and has been on repeat since it came out.

Meteorite – Caroline Kingsbury

Next up, we have Caroline Kingsbury. I’ve been following Caroline pretty closely lately, expecting her to absolutely blow up soon. Her EP, Shock Treatment, just dropped and is absolutely incredible. Inspired by a world where queerness is the norm, Kingsbury tells intimate stories through a personal lens.

My favorite off of the album, meteorite, is a nostalgic vibe recounting the feeling of falling in love with someone. It’s a gorgeous tune that invokes a feeling that a lot of music aims to hit, but falls short. Caroline does an incredible job with this song.

The Tongass – Goth Babe

The final artist spotlight is Goth Babe. If Goth Babe has no fans, I’m dead. I discovered them earlier this year opening for AJR’s Somewhere In The Sky tour and was an instant fan. Their music never fails to deliver the absolutely best chill, but energetic dance vibe.

Their newest EP, Tongass National Forest, continues that aesthetic seamlessly. The Tongass recounts a trip lead singer Griff took to the forest and tells of the inspiration and scenery the forest provided. The song comes as the government rolls back fundamental protections against logging and other harmful practices, critically impacting the national forest.
