Welcome to the Mouse Parade! — Of Monsters and Men in Austin

Songs To Listen To:
“Little Talks”, “Crystals”, “Television Love”, “Fruit Bat”

Setting the scene… it’s 2013. The song, Little Talks, by Of Monsters and Men is EVERYWHERE. It’s all over the mainstream and alternative radio stations, there are a billion covers of this song all over the internet. (My favorite was Julia Sheer and Jon D’s version, I still listen to it all the time).

Fast forward to 2025 and Of Monsters and Men is still making waves in the music scene with the release of their album All is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade. The release of the first single, Television Love, left fans yearning for the new music. When the album released in October, it delivered some of most beautiful melodies that I’ve heard this year.

I was expecting the most immaculate vibes heading into their show, but I was astounded at the magnitude of their performance. The venue was absolutely full and everyone there was deeply invested in each song. I often saw hands in the air in praise, feeling the music with every inch of their being. The closest thing I can compare to is a church worship for the most spiritual person you know.

The stage set up was so beautiful, the lighting shifting drastically to fit each song’s aesthetic. They entered the stage in total darkness, the lights only providing a silhouette against the band, then shifting to various streams of light over the band and the audience.

The band shifted their set up often, moving around the stage and even participating with the fans. For the song, Mouse Parade, the band formed a circle on stage to play. During the song, Visions, they interacted with the crowd, standing on the edge of the barricade and reaching out to the fans.

The most anticipated song of the night for most in the room was obviously their hit, Little Talks. They delivered an absolutely breathtaking performance of the song, with not a single fan left in their seats by the end. Opener Árný Margrét joined in, pulling out an unexpected, but incredible harmonica solo.

My favorite part of the show was during the encore. They asked for everyone’s favorite song in the crowd. All at once, the room erupted a chorus of inaudible screaming, each fan with a different song. This speaks strongly to their range and ability to consistently produce music that appeals to so many different people. The crowd ranged from small children to grandparents, all embracing the melodies the same.

Of Monsters and Men is truly for everyone and their tour is not one that you should miss.
